Synelixis is the Coordinator of the newly awarded pan-European Digital Transformation in Agriculture flagship project, capitalizing SynField product family.
Targeting the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) implementation, the project will drive developments in Smart Farming, Precision Farming and Agri-Environmental monitoring and strengthen the Agricultural Digital Transformation at European Level. Leveraging on the technological superiority and functional flexibility of Synelixis’ SynField and SynAir product families, the project will implement a specialized digital platform for upscaling (real-time) sensor data for EU-wide monitoring of production and agri-environmental conditions. Beyond storage efficiency and semantic interoperability, the multi-technology platform will combine state of the art Big Data/Artificial Intelligence frameworks and Data-Spaces’ Technologies (BDVA/IDSA/GAIA-X) with agricultural knowledge, agri-environment policies and farmers’ engagement campaigns.
The project will be validated throughout the full new CAP era (2023-2027) in 23 pilots and 9 countries, representing crops of more than 181,000ha that span from southwest to northeast Europe and a livestock of 5 types and more than 2,000 animals.
Led by Synelixis, the project consortium consists of 31 partners, including 14 Agricultural Cooperatives and 3 CAP Paying Authorities. The project will be funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe framework with 7.5M€.
“It is a great honour and significant responsibility to lead the Digital Transformation in Agriculture at pan-European Level, and we are ready to realize the challenge as we have done the last 15 years” commented Dr. Artemis Voulkidis, Technical Director of Synelixis.
