SYNELIXIS To Lead Flagship European Project in Agriculture. The Kick-Off Meeting of the GEORGIA EU Project took place on February 19-20, 2025, in Athens, Greece. This two-day event marked the launch of an ambitious initiative aimed at strengthening Europe’s agricultural resilience to drought through sustainable irrigation solutions and cutting-edge water management technologies. The GEORGIA project (Green dEal cOmpliant iRriGation Increasing Europe’s Agriculture resilience to drought) is a groundbreaking effort under the Horizon Europe Programme, bringing together 16 partners from 9 European countries. The project is set to establish new benchmarks for water efficiency in European agriculture, fostering a climate-resilient and resource-efficient future.
Driving Innovation in Irrigation
Led by Synelixis, a pioneer in smart agriculture solutions, GEORGIA focuses on developing and deploying advanced irrigation technologies and AI-driven decision support systems to optimize water use and enhance agricultural sustainability. Aligned with Europe’s Green Deal objectives, the project promotes an environmentally sound, socially equitable, and economically viable agricultural transformation. By integrating AI-powered digital tools and alternative water sources, GEORGIA revolutionizes water management and irrigation practices. Its holistic approach enhances farmer competitiveness and fair income opportunities, ensuring a sustainable and productive agricultural sector.
Real-World Implementation Across Europe
GEORGIA will develop and deploy state-of-the-art irrigation technologies, which will be validated across seven pilot sites in six countries (Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Serbia, Austria, and Poland).
